Democrats already recruiting oversight staff as left-leaning law firms gear up for Trump investigations

One day after a dismal midterm election result for President Donald Trump‘s Republican Party, Judiciary Committee Democrats are already recruiting lawyers and investigative staff for the next Congress as outside legal organizations prepare for investigations into the president, his administration, and his family’s business dealings.

The preparations add weight to the subpoena threats Democrats issued as Tuesday’s election results handed them control of Congress — and raise questions about how their investigative ambitions will coexist with promises to focus on affordability.
