President Donald Trump said on Saturday he will “probably” lose the birthright citizenship case at the Supreme Court after a recent string of court losses in federal court.
Trump made the notable admission nearly two months after the federal government defended the president’s 2025 executive order seeking to reestablish birthright citizenship under the 14th Amendment as applying only to children born to at least one U.S. citizen or permanent resident on American soil. Trump personally attended oral arguments in the case.
“Our Country will lose the Birthright Citizenship Case … because our Court System is RIGGED, no different than our Political System is RIGGED, and the people of our Country know it,” he wrote in a lengthy Truth Social post about lawfare against his administration.
The Supreme Court is expected to rule on birthright citizenship in the next month before the nine justices go on summer recess.
The Trump administration was dealt setbacks on Friday in several legal cases, including one concerning a nearly $1.8 billion “anti-weaponization” fund that was temporarily blocked by a federal judge. The fund was created by the Department of Justice as part of a settlement between Trump and the Internal Revenue Service.
While Trump’s $10 billion lawsuit against the agency was resolved, a different federal judge reopened the case on Friday to investigate the fund that arose from the settlement.
In a separate case, Trump’s planned two-year renovation for the Kennedy Center was paused. Construction would have started on July 5, but U.S. District Judge Christopher Cooper determined the closure was unlawful and ordered the administration to remove Trump’s name from the performing arts center in Washington, D.C.
Trump railed against Cooper in two Truth Social posts since the ruling dropped. In the latest post, the president suggested the Obama-appointed judge was biased against him.
“A Barack Hussein Obama Judge named Christopher Cooper has stopped a magnificent structural and aesthetic rebuilding of The Trump Kennedy Center where Millions of Dollars of material, marble, furniture, steel, air conditioning, heating, and so much else was ordered, or soon to be ordered, with the end result being a structure that would no longer be in a potential state of collapse, rusted, rotted, and rat and bug infested, to one that would be the Finest anywhere in the World,” Trump said.
He also criticized Cooper’s wife, Amy Jeffress, who represents former President Joe Biden in a personal capacity.

“It was all being torn out to be replaced by brand new Carrier Equipment, at the highest standard,” he added. “Now that won’t happen anymore because a Judge, whose wife is an anti Trump Hater, and he is too, decided, unprecedentedly, to not allow a desperately needed Building Renovation to go forward.”
Trump then called for charges to be brought against Cooper because he poses a “total Conflict of Interest” with Jeffress. Trump argued Cooper should have disclosed his wife’s ties to the Democratic Party, specifically how that may have influenced his decision to keep the Kennedy Center open without repairs taking place.
